Manga Series I enjoyed reading recently

Manga is a style of comic books and graphic novels. There are many different kinds of stories which makes it easy to get into, but finding a series that suits you is half the battle.

The following is what I think are a good mix of manga that almost anyone can pick up – and won't be able to put down.

1. One Piece

Gol D. Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece (which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King. Enter Monkey D. Twenty-two years later, Luffy, a 17-year-old boy who defies the standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

2. Fairy Tail

A young celestial mage, Lucy Heartfilia, runs away from home and travels to the land of Fiore to join the magical Fairy Tail Guild. Along the way, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a teenage boy looking for his foster parent, a dragon named Igneel, with his best friend, Happy the cat. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by Bora of Prominence, who was posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail, to be sold as a slave. Natsu rescues her and reveals that he is the real Salamander of fairy tail and has the skills of a Dragon Slayer, an ancient fire magic. He offers her membership into the guild, which she gladly accepts, they along with Erza Scarlet -Armored maiden, Gray Fullbuster -Ice Maker, and Happy become a team performing various missions offered to the Fairy Tail guild. Fairy Tail won the 2009 Kodansha Manga Award for shounen manga. It has also won The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation's Industry Awards for best comedy manga.

3. Kingdom 

Millions of years have passed since the times of legends, when the worlds of men and gods were still the same. In these times it was the desires of man that moved the world. It is the era of the 500 year war: The warring states period. Kingdom is the story of a young boy named Xin who grew into a great general and all the trials and bloodshed that lead him there.

4. One Punch Man

Nothing about Saitama passes the eyeball test when it comes to superheroes, from his lifeless expression to his bald head to his unimpressive physique. However, this average-looking guy has a not-so-average problem—he just can’t seem to find an opponent strong enough to take on! Every time a promising villain appears, he beats the snot out of ’em with one punch! Can Saitama finally find an opponent who can go toe-to-toe with him and give his life some meaning? Or is he doomed to a life of superpowered boredom?

5. Naruto

Twelve years ago, the powerful Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked the ninja village of Konohagakure the village hidden in the leaves. The demon was defeated and sealed into the infant Naruto Uzumaki, by the Fourth Hokage who sacrificed his life to protect the village. Now, Naruto is the number one most Unpredictable knuckleheaded ninja who's determined to become the next Hokage and be acknowledged by everyone who ever doubted him! From cool fights showing what it really means to be a ninja to fights for things they believe in to hairbrained fun and jokes naruto's adventures have got it all! With the will to never give up and a great left hook along with his ninja way: to never go back on his word, will Naruto the former outcast achieve his dream?

6. Noblesse

For 820 years he had slumbered with no knowledge of mankind's advancement and scientific progress. The land which he once knew has become an unfamiliar place with new technology, attitudes, and lifestyles. 

Upon awakening, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel (aka Rai), seeks to familiarize himself with this era. He locates a loyal servant of his, Frankenstein, who is currently the principal of a South Korean High School. Rai decides that this school is the perfect place to help him learn about the modern world, enrolls, and begins associating with a group of good-natured students in order to 'blend in.' But this new world is no safer than the old; and the dignified, bewildered, technologically inept Rai finds himself embroiled in adventures both ridiculous and dangerous.

7. Boku no Hero Academia

One day, a four-year-old boy came to a sudden realization: the world is not fair. Eighty percent of the world's population wield special abilities, known as "quirks," which have given many the power to make their childhood dreams of becoming a superhero a reality. Unfortunately, Izuku Midoriya was one of the few born without a quirk, suffering from discrimination because of it. Yet, he refuses to give up on his dream of becoming a hero; determined to do the impossible, Izuku sets his sights on the elite hero training academy, UA High.

However, everything changes after a chance meeting with the number one hero and Izuku's idol, All Might. Discovering that his dream is not a dead end, the powerless boy undergoes special training, working harder than ever before. Eventually, this leads to him inheriting All Might's power, and with his newfound abilities, gets into his school of choice, beginning his grueling journey to become the successor of the best hero on the planet.

8. Shokugeki no Soma

Yukihira Souma is an ambitious 15-year-old whose dream is to surpass the culinary skills of his famous father, Yukihira Jouichirou. But just as Souma graduates from middle school, his father abruptly closes down the family restaurant and leaves to cook in Europe. Although downtrodden, Souma's fighting spirit is rekindled when his father enrolled him in an elite culinary school where only 10% of the students graduate. Can Souma survive in the cut-throat world of Tootsuki Academy?

9. Tower of God

What do you desire? Fortune? Glory? Power? Revenge? Or something that surpasses all others? Whatever you desire, 'that' is here. 

Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent his life trapped beneath a mysterious tower. Chasing after his best friend, he manages to open a door into the Tower, and must now face challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his companion.

10. Lookism

In a society where looks mean everything, Park Hyung Suk, short, overweight and unattractive, is viciously bullied and abused on a daily basis, but never tells his overworked mother about it. One day, when his mother witnesses this abuse, she sends him to a better school. But unfortunately, he finds that this new school is just as cruel as the other.

One night, he wakes up to discover that he is suddenly tall, fit, and incredibly handsome. He returns to the bedroom to find his other unattractive body sleeping. He now has one mind, and two bodies. Whenever one falls asleep, the other is awakened, and whenever one is woken up, the other falls asleep. Afraid to show up at school for fear of being bullied again, he decides to use his new body for school. But how will it go? Will he finally be accepted?

A tale of Love? Friendship?

Let me share another story today. A tale of Love? Friendship? Well I don't know and neither can I judge till date. Though this is a very
Allow me to start from the very beginning, from when I met them. Neha, Sunil and Kartik were my lab partner, so that's how we came to met.  Sunil made this group in WhatsApp where we shared our record notes and slowly it became a personal chat forum. Kartik, he was a friend of Neha from first semester. I came in two their life in 3rd semester towards the ending.
OK, so I was just a normal friend to Neha, "ziyada baat nahi, hi, hello bas" (translation : we didn't talk much except for a few exchanges of hi, hello) and during then there was another headache of mine, my ex  🤣 .

So one day, this is around the mid of 4th semester. I was depressed GF issues, so Sunil used to call me out in the evenings. So this evening when I arrived, I saw Neha surrounded by Kartik and Sunil. Both trying to console her and convince her. At the time I was clueless, "ho kya raha hai?"(translation : What's happening!?). So they gave me a short version. Her BF doesn't treats her well , she should break up. Her argument I really love him, I don't wanna hurt him by breaking up. As the convincing goes on I realised the following,
Neha, milne jaati hai usse milne(translation : goes to meet him) every weekend and holidays , he stays 23 km away + Bangalore traffic (the headache), and he doesn't appreciate it.
Boyfriend doesn't care about her. Boyfriend doesn't even bother and only likes spending time with friends leaving her by herself in his room.
Neha is the one trying to hard to keep the relationship even going.
Neha is the "guy" in the relationship.
They tried convincing  her a lot and her arguments were worthless , so the best thing a girl would do in such a situation... she started crying. So we quit at it for then, I had to drop her to her PG. Then at night I texted her, personally, telling her whatever those guys spoke was nonsense.
If you believe in your relationship do whatever to keep it, but remember to stay happy, and all similar nonsense advices 😜.
For a few days it was quite. Nothing happened out of ordinary. Then, the next thing I heard she asked him(the BF) for a break up, and then the guy promised he'd try to change. So they continued their relationship.
Then again after a month... (In the background  Kartik trying his hardest to convince Neha to break up with him(the BF), at the time I had no clue, this was happening). I hear the news, Neha broke up.
How I came to know, Neha hugged Kartik after class and left.
When I asked, he told they broke up. "Odd laga uss time thoda" (translation : Felt a little odd/awkward), but whatever, I didn't care. Later that day I heard, from 2/3 days the BF is calling Neha repeatedly and she's ignoring every call. He even tried to reach her through their common friends and flatmates too. Irritating her and everyone around her. Don't know all the details, but you can imagine, what a guy would do  if he's desperate enough. After a few days of this, he comes over from his college waits for her in front of her PG all day. Next thing I know she goes back to his PG with her. And stays missing for the next 3 days. On the fourth day Kartik was full depressed, he won't talk to anyone and was ignoring Neha completely. As soon as the classes got over he would bolt out.
2-3 days went, I realised Arpit(the Boyfriend) and Neha were back together.
Kartik also had cooled off. Neha and Kartik were talking again.
2-3 weeks went by..., and then again the same drama began, but this time there was a new reason,
"Arpit doesn't like me hanging out with my friends after college", stated Neha.
(I still am unaware of what Kartik is scheming in the background.)
So similar drama breaking up, BF doing nonsense to convince her to stay. Once even cutting his hand and making a video and sending it. Him coming to her doorstep. She leaving with him. Patching up. Kartik's mood off  just after these incidents. Had become a periodic thing.
During these times I saw so a lot more nautanki, other than these that realised haan they should break up. Things like Neha sitting so very close to Kartik all the time, spoon feeding him and him to her... Him taking care of her always, during all days, always checking up on her. Her also, always caring for him. I was, (no, I am) convinced these two should be together. And that she had to break up with the other guy for good.
Then came our holidays and during which I and Kartik got to spend some quality time together. We would talk and discuss plans of future and share some business ideas as well as how we could earn some pocket money for ourselves. So me, Kartik, Sunil and few of your friends organised a workshop to earn ourselves some pocket money. We were looking forward to just a small turnout, but it turned out to be a huge event with a  turnout of 140+ attendees. We were all very happy and to celebrate we planned a trip to Coorg. And during the trip  the things that I got to saw! 🙈
No, no kissing or... (Stop your imagination there.) 😆
But some serious, couple stuff. You know romantic movie, romance scenes, Ek Chadar pe ke neeche dono (translation : Sharing a blanket), sitting in the garden, cuddling, and much more. Let's say the phace was very romantic song like in the bollywood movies. Out on a trip with friends, visiting places, singing songs, eating at various places, a homestay at Coorg, a campfire at night and the romance between the two in it. Wow, really romantic isn't it. 🙂
Our college life continues, and then one night, out of nowhere, I get a call around 11:40 in the night. It was Arpit. He's spouting stuff like stay away from her and shit. So basically what he thought was Sunil and Neha had something going on and that Sahil had previously beat him up over some words that Arpit talked about him.

Toh papa mere side mei, and it was night and he's spouting nonsense. And I am in a fix, what do I do? I couldn't just start shouting at him in the middle of the night and also my dad believes I am quite a decent guy, who doesn't involve himself in such nonsense. Nonsenses like fighting, arguments, girl troubles, etc. Toh Maine diplomatically, shuddh angrezi mein usse jhad di(translation : In a very diplomatic manner I scolded him).
Uss din Jo heights pe tha mera tashan 😳 I myself was like wow.
And then the awkwardness of me having to explain all the situation to my dad at night
Then I had a conversation with Kartik that night and this is how it went,

Funny conversation right. But the things that happens next are way more comical.
Kartik was all psyched the next morning at college. I got to hear the story of what has been going on till date in detail. The scene was a week ago Neha told him they are done then blocked him. He has been trying to contact her since. He blames all her friends, for breaking them up, not that I am saying we're not.
That day evening after college, an entire battalion lead by Kartik goes to drop Neha to her PG.
And there he was , waiting... Arpit. So Neha stalls us, says she'll go talk to him alone. They go talk for like a long time. During this, Sunil more crazy than ever. Brings his gang. Kartik gets impatient of waiting. Neha and Arpit took a walk while talking to some quiet place and we were asked not to follow. So Kartik decides to go in search, I accompany him. We find them near a park.
Kartik directly goes catches Neha's hand and pulls her towards him. Arpit gets angry. Neha consoles Kartik and says, I'll be back in a few seconds. And takes Arpit to the side.
Another 10 min pass Kartik gets really impatient and  confronts Neha, and says bohot hogaya, it's time to leave. So Arpit comments,  "who r u? Don't interfere", while Neha defends Arpit and stops him from confronting Kartik, all the while crying.  And I pull Kartik away. Both walk away from each other,  while Arpit makes another comment, Kartik gets all angry and shouts back few slangs, the other guy replies back. A fight had almost started when, I interfere push Kartik back as he was going to punch the other guy. I too shout back at Arpit, telling him to mind his own business and back away. An hour or more passes by, and then Neha returns with Arpit. Neha explains a few stuff to Kartik while Arpit apologises to me for the previous night. Everyone leave.
The very next day, Kartik doesn't attend class. I asked his hostel roomies, then they told.
All the scene became clear to me. For months, what had been happening, the convincing and all.
And that yesterday night he was outside and wandering the streets alone, didn't come back to room till late night and cried and spoke a lot of things, which they didn't say clearly what he said. But this in itself was huge.
Then for few days no one talked Neha.
Then slowly again Kartik started talking to her. What changed I am not sure.
Kartik moved out of hostel. Bought a flat. Neha comes and stays there most of the day.
Everything is just the way it was, them cuddling, sleeping on each others laps, her staying with him almost every time of the day. His top priority is always her. Not a day can they stay without speaking to each other.
Though her bf is still remains to be Arpit.

(Latest Update : Neha broke up with Arpit after a long period of very less interactions. Arpit is apparently still in love with her and trying to win her back.)

Take some time to read this inspirational story of a person I know.

Once upon a time, there lived a crazy character. He used to trouble his parents very much as a kid. Very much indeed. He wasn't that great in academics in his school days but his teachers very well knew his potential and kept on intimating his parents especially his mother that he can do more. Why isn't he concentrating on academics. Who cares. Our hero simply enjoyed his moments. Playing with his friends. Wasting time like anything. One thing no one understood was. He was the only child. And also a huge generation gap with his parents. With whom will he share all his happiness and sorrows. Obviously his friends! So he always spent his time with his friends.

As time passed by, he was very much indifferent to his future. At 10th board exam as well he didn't perform that great a maneuver. It was decent though. At the same time, things weren't going well at home.  He felt a sense of insecurity. An urge to stand on his own leg. To change his perspective of life. After 10th, he started focusing on his academics. Started doing wonders. Midway, worst was happening in his life but he never felt or sensed that. He was very much ignorant about it. All his mind, body and soul were focused on one thing. Academics and academics. Nothing else. Let the world go to hell. It is at this very age that he started spending frugally. In order to save money, he walked kilometres while going to his coaching classes. He inculcated a passion to read novels around the same time. In order to make good use of time, he used to read the books while travelling, walking, etc. He got to know what each second meant! Diminished they look bleak. But once cumulated, they prove to be costly!. He was very jovial with his friends. They were his life! With whom else will he share his pain and joy. Books were his first love. Why? The reason is twofold. First and foremost he loved to enact. So reading character descriptions which were detailed. Simply made him empathise with them and he used to be the characters. Second. They were inspirational to him. Every character in a book had something to teach him. He was very much interested in modern history. World leaders inspired him. They were indirectly telling him. What you are going through in your life is nothing. Just forget it. Come forward.  You can do it and you will do it. And he did it! With great scores and rank he graduated from the school. The school played a huge roll in educating this person with so much discipline. A thing which will be a weapon for this man from now on.

He joined a very reputed college. He made great friends. At the same time. He had a difficult life in the background. Very very bad life. But that didn't dampen his spirits. He kept on working hard. Day in and day out. Who cares about the problems. Thinking about problem is the root problem. Kill it! Rest will follow. He had a great respect and love for his friends. For obvious reasons. He came across one of the books considered to be the best literature in the world. That changed his perspective of life all together. Struggling very badly in life. He understood and felt that the only way to happiness was to sacrifice yourself for others. He was very helpful to anyone. Wholeheartedly he would help them. Serve them as if they were his own. And yes! They were his own. No doubts about that. Years passed on. Friends were everything to him. He shared his pain and sorrows with few of them whom he considered the greatest of all. Lucky to have such people around. Such was his life that he lived in extremes. Extreme of extremes. He struggled so much that he had to struggle badly for food. He roamed streets after streets. No matter what. Nothing would dampen his spirits. He have great people around and he needs to serve them. Love all around him. That is the ultimate happiness of life isn't it.

When things were going as mentioned above. Suddenly one day happiness started coming to him like an atom bomb explosion. He felt so damn emotional.

Obviously he would feel so right. He took a moment and just thought about his life and thought how learning from others so much he had to teach others. Now its time for others to learn few things from him.

Pursuit of New Beginnings

It's been a while, a while since I had to last think what I wanted to do with my life. Thinking back to my childhood, I was so confident on becoming a scientist, along the way I feel as though I have lost myself. Though I still wanna be a scientist I just don't  know how to anymore.
So what is it that I wanna do now? What is my goal? My ambitions? I have started to ponder these questions. And frankly speaking I have no clue anymore. There are so many options available to me and each seems so intriguing that I am unable to decide. I know I am only 20 and still in college, and it's not as if I should worry much about taking wrong decisions. But I have to ask myself  where is it that I am headed. And currently I fret that my college life is ruining me, the subjects and don't interest me anymore, the professors also don't really put much effort of showing applications of what they're teaching, rather they just teach so we clear our exams. The education system is one thing I wish to complain a lot about. But, I too am to blame equally for not fighting the flow and just floating on it, seeing where the flow would take me. And now I am worried where is it exactly that I am going?
Thus my pursuit of a new beginning, let's see what I can come up with...
